C7.             Successful grant applications

DECRA responsibilities

C7.1                The DECRA may be undertaken on either a full-time, or a part-time basis subject to Your organisation’s employment conditions and provided that the DECRA does not exceed six years from the project start date (excluding any approved periods of suspension).

C7.2                The DECRA:

1. must obtain a legal right to work and reside in Australia, prior to the commencement of the project if the candidate is not an Australian citizen;

b.              must meet residential, time commitment and relinquishment requirements as specified in the grant agreement;

c.              must work all of their employed time on the project;

d.              cannot begin another ARC Fellowship until the DECRA has been completed; and

e.              may not engage in other professional employment during the project activity period without prior approval from Us.

C7.3                The grant agreement includes further information on the requirements and expectations for the DECRA.

C7.4                You must employ the DECRA for the project activity period.

C7.5                You are responsible for managing changes to the DECRA’s working hours. You are required to notify Us of any changes to working hours through submission of a Variation.

C7.6                You must ensure the DECRA has access to the following leave entitlements in line with Your normal practice:

C7.7                The grant agreement includes further information on leave entitlements. Funding for paid leave, and suspension of the project to undertake such leave, must be requested from Us via a Variation as detailed in the grant agreement.

Grant Agreement Variation

C7.8                DECRA salary funding may be used for other purposes to support the project in changed circumstances with Our approval and without extension to the project activity period. These purposes will not include supporting the DECRA recipient to begin another ARC Fellowship.

C7.9                The use of DECRA salary funding for other project purposes does not confer an exemption from the limits applicable to budget items and personnel for project limits eligibility.
