sec.10 Chairperson and deputy chairperson of local groups— Act , s 34
For section 34 (2) of the Act , the chairperson and deputy chairperson of a local group are the persons appointed by the relevant local government for the local group to be the chairperson and deputy chairperson. The chairperson must be— if the relevant local government is a combined local government— the mayor of any of the local governments comprising the combined local government; or a nominee of a mayor mentioned in subparagraph (i) who is a councillor of any of the local governments comprising the combined local government; or otherwise— the mayor of the relevant local government; or a nominee of the mayor of the relevant local government who is a councillor of the local government. s 10 amd 2020 SL No. 44 s 3 ; 2025 SL No. 137 s 4 (3)–(8) exp 2 April 2021 (see s 10(7)) (sec.10-ssec.1) For section 34 (2) of the Act , the chairperson and deputy chairperson of a local group are the persons appointed by the relevant local government for the local group to be the chairperson and deputy chairperson. (sec.10-ssec.2) The chairperson must be— if the relevant local government is a combined local government— the mayor of any of the local governments comprising the combined local government; or a nominee of a mayor mentioned in subparagraph (i) who is a councillor of any of the local governments comprising the combined local government; or otherwise— the mayor of the relevant local government; or a nominee of the mayor of the relevant local government who is a councillor of the local government.
- (a) if the relevant local government is a combined local government— (i) the mayor of any of the local governments comprising the combined local government; or (ii) a nominee of a mayor mentioned in subparagraph (i) who is a councillor of any of the local governments comprising the combined local government; or
- (i) the mayor of any of the local governments comprising the combined local government; or
- (ii) a nominee of a mayor mentioned in subparagraph (i) who is a councillor of any of the local governments comprising the combined local government; or
- (b) otherwise— (i) the mayor of the relevant local government; or (ii) a nominee of the mayor of the relevant local government who is a councillor of the local government.
- (i) the mayor of the relevant local government; or
- (ii) a nominee of the mayor of the relevant local government who is a councillor of the local government.
- (i) the mayor of any of the local governments comprising the combined local government; or
- (ii) a nominee of a mayor mentioned in subparagraph (i) who is a councillor of any of the local governments comprising the combined local government; or
- (i) the mayor of the relevant local government; or
