On 3 December 2007, the Administrative Arrangements Order (AAO) transferred responsibility for the National Archives of Australia to the then Finance and Administration portfolio. Accordingly, in Appropriation Act (No. 3) 2007-2008, the National Archives of Australia was the responsibility of the Finance and Deregulation portfolio. On 25 January 2008, the AAO was amended again and the National Archives of Australia became the responsibility of the Prime Minister and Cabinet portfolio.
