Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This determination allows the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) to officially award a new qualification: the Graduate Certificate in Screenwriting Fundamentals.

What this means:

AFTRS is a national institution that trains people for careers in film, television, and radio.
Under the Australian Film, Television and Radio School Act 1973, the School can only offer degrees, diplomas, and certificates that are formally "determined" (officially listed) by the Council.
This document adds one new course to that list—a postgraduate qualification focused on the basics of writing for screen.

Why it matters: Without this determination, AFTRS could not legally grant this qualification to students. By registering this instrument, the School gains the power to enrol students in this specific course and award them the Graduate Certificate when they complete it. This ensures the qualification is recognised under Commonwealth law.
