#### 52 Meaning of competent officer Each of the following is a competent officer: (a) an officer; (b) a member of the naval, military or air force of Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States of America who holds a rank equivalent to an officer; (c) in relation to a member of the Defence Force who is a prisoner of war, interned or in custody in a place outside Australia—the person who is the official representative of prisoners of war or other persons detained or interned in that place.
