#### 48 Voluntary reduction in rank (1) An officer may apply to the Governor‑General to be reduced in rank to a rank specified in the application. (2) The Governor‑General must: (a) reduce the officer’s rank to the rank specified in the application; or (b) refuse the application. (3) An enlisted member may apply to the Chief of the enlisted member’s Service to be reduced in rank to a rank specified in the application. (4) The Chief must: (a) reduce the enlisted member’s rank to the rank specified in the application; or (b) refuse the application. Chapter 8—Alteration of the service obligation
