#### 60 Prescribed basic annual rate of pay Where: (a) a member of the scheme who is a contributing member dies or retires; and (b) the annual rate of pay applicable to him immediately before his death or retirement was an amount per annum that is less than the amount per annum that, at the time of his death or retirement, was, under the regulations, the prescribed basic annual rate of pay applicable to him for the purposes of this section; then, for the purposes of Parts IV, V and VI, the annual rate of pay applicable to him immediately before his death or retirement shall be deemed to be that prescribed basic annual rate of pay.
