15Acting Registrar

#### 15 Acting Registrar (1) The assistant Registrar is to act as the Registrar: (a) during a vacancy in the office of Registrar (whether or not an appointment has previously been made to the office); or (b) during any period, or during all periods, when the Registrar: (i) is absent from duty or from Australia; or (ii) is, for any reason, unable to perform the duties of the office. (2) For the purposes of this section, the assistant Registrar is: (a) if there is only one Deputy Registrar—the Deputy Registrar; or (b) if there is more than one Deputy Registrar—the Deputy Registrar nominated by the President to be the assistant Registrar. > Note: For rules that apply to persons acting as the Registrar, see section 33A of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901.
