Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This law authorises the Australian Government to transfer £2,928,376 (nearly three million pounds) from the general government revenue (the Consolidated Revenue Fund) into a special bank account called the Defence Equipment Trust Account.

Why it matters:

This money was specifically earmarked for purchasing military equipment during the Second World War
The Trust Account was originally created in 1934, and this Act topped it up with additional funds in December 1940
It is a straightforward budgetary measure—Parliament voting to allocate cash for the war effort

Who it affects:

Government defence planners and military procurement officers who accessed these funds
Ultimately, Australian troops who received the equipment purchased with this appropriation
