Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

The Commonwealth formally declares South Australia’s Prohibition of Human Cloning for Reproduction Act 2003 and Research Involving Human Embryos Act 2003 (as amended) to be “corresponding State laws” under the Research Involving Human Embryos Act 2002.

That recognition means those State laws now operate in place of the federal Act in South Australia, shifting regulatory oversight to State authorities for researchers and institutions working with human embryos while preserving the nationally aligned ethical standards.
