Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This instrument is a ministerial declaration that defines the "adjacent coastal area of Papua New Guinea" for the Torres Strait Fisheries Act 1984 by reference to the Treaty line in Annex 5 and the coordinates south of 9°S and west of 143°30′E. By fixing that geographic label, it determines where the Act’s rules and obligations apply — affecting fishers, vessels and agencies whose rights or duties depend on whether activities occur inside that area.
