This Determination sets when datacasting charges must be paid to the Australian government.

Who it affects Companies or organisations that hold a transmitter licence (official permission to use radio frequencies) for datacasting services—digital broadcasting of television content or data services to the public.

What it requires Licensees must pay their annual datacasting charge on 31 December each year. This payment covers the charge calculation period that has just ended.

Why it matters The government charges fees for commercial use of radio spectrum. This instrument creates a predictable, annual deadline for these payments, ensuring broadcasters know exactly when their fees are due.
