229 Return of licences (1) This section applies if a licence is produced to the licensing authority or given to the authority by an authorised person. (2) If the licence has not been cancelled or varied and is not suspended, the licensing authority must return the licence after inspecting it. (3) If the licence has been suspended, the suspension has ended and a replacement licence is not issued, the licensing authority must return the licence to the licensee. (4) If the licence has been varied, the variation is recorded on the licence and a replacement licence is not issued, the licensing authority must return the licence to the licensee. (5) However, if the licence period has ended, the licensing authority is not required to return the licence to the licensee.
