25Production of identity cards

25 Production of identity cards (1) An authorised person who is not a police officer must— (a) carry the authorised person’s identity card while exercising a function under this Act; and (b) produce the card before exercising a function under this Act. Note 1 A reference to an Act includes a reference to the statutory instruments Note 2 An authorised person must produce the card in certain circumstances (see pt 3.5). (2) A police officer exercising a function as an authorised person under this Act must comply with a request to identify themselves by— (a) producing evidence that the person is a police officer; or (b) stating orally or in writing the person’s name, rank and place of duty.

(3) Subsection (2) does not apply in relation to a police officer in uniform.
