Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Act extends a government subsidy (called a bounty) paid to Australian dairy producers for manufacturing butter, cheese, and other butter fat products.

What it does:

Extends the payment period: The previous law offered these subsidy payments until 1967. This Act extends the scheme for another five years, pushing the deadline out to 1972.
Mechanical amendment: It makes a single, simple change to the existing Dairying Industry Act 1962 — literally swapping the word "sixty-seven" for "seventy-two" in one section.

Who it affects: Dairy farmers and manufacturers who produce eligible butter fat products and receive government bounty payments.

Why it matters: It guarantees five additional years of financial support for the dairy industry, giving producers longer-term certainty about the subsidy payments they will receive for their production.
