Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Act resolves a technical doubt about customs duties taken under two tariff proposals of 14 and 26 May 1981 by declaring any duties demanded or collected under those proposals up to 31 December 1981 to be lawfully imposed.

It primarily affects the Commonwealth (Treasury/Customs) and importers who paid those duties, avoiding potential refunds or budget disruption by validating past collections.
