Plain English Summary

This Act retrospectively validates customs duties charged under the December 1957 "Customs Tariff Proposals" (including general changes and preferential rates for New Zealand and Canada) for the period up to 30 June 1958. It confirms the government’s collection, prevents importers from claiming refunds for duties taken under those temporary proposals, and thus secures revenue and continuity of the announced tariff arrangements.
