Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This Act retroactively validates customs duties collected by the Commonwealth under temporary tariff proposals in 1917–1919, treating those collections as lawfully imposed even where taken before the validating Act or across a change of Parliament. It preserves government revenue and removes legal risk that importers who paid under those proposals could demand refunds.
