Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This Act lets the Governor‑General proclaim that specified goods “produced or manufactured” in New Zealand receive reduced import duties in Australia, by applying the British Preferential Tariff rates that then applied to United Kingdom goods. It affects Australian importers, New Zealand exporters and consumers, creating a formal trade preference that lowers barriers and streamlines duty relief without separate legislation for each product.
