Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

These regulations are a housekeeping measure that removes outdated laws from the books. Specifically, they repeal (cancel) the Customs (Narcotics Inquiries) Regulations 1980.

What this means:

The 1980 Regulations previously gave customs officials specific powers to conduct inquiries into narcotics matters
This instrument does not create new laws—it simply deletes defunct regulations that are no longer needed
Modern customs and drug enforcement continues under other current legislation
This is purely legislative tidying-up to keep the statute book clean
