Plain English Summary

4/10 complexity

This by-law lets businesses, organisations and international exhibitors temporarily import goods for approved exhibitions, trade shows or similar events with duty relief or no customs duty, provided a senior customs official approves the event and goods. Imports must meet the Customs Convention and Istanbul Convention (Annex B.1) conditions—notably re-export after the event and no sale or other use while in Australia. It reduces costs for exhibitors and supports international trade and events.
