Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Determination (made under subsection 13A(1) of the Currency Act 1965) sets the technical and design specifications for a single coin: a one‑kilogram $30 coin of not less than 99.9% silver, including exact weight (1002.502 g ±1.500 g), diameter, thickness, shape, edge inscriptions, and obverse/reverse imagery. It commences on gazettal and expressly does not alter specifications set by other determinations.

It affects the Royal Australian Mint, coin purchasers and dealers, and any manufacturers or contractors by creating a legally specified product with strict composition and production tolerances — compliance and production costs fall on the mint and its suppliers.
