#### 345 Objects 345 Objects > > (1) The objects of this Part are— > > > > > (a) to provide a framework for the recognition and operation of programs of certain alternative measures for dealing with persons who have committed an offence or are alleged to have committed an offence, and > > > > > (b) to ensure that such programs apply fairly to all persons who are eligible to participate in them, and that such programs are properly managed and administered, and > > > > > (c) to reduce the likelihood of future offending behaviour by facilitating participation in such programs. > > > (2) In enacting this Part, Parliament recognises that— > > > > > (a) the rights of victims should be protected and maintained in accordance with the Charter of Victims Rights set out in the [Victims Rights Act 1996](/view/html/repealed/current/act-1996-114), and > > > > > (b) the successful rehabilitation of offenders contributes to the maintenance of a safe, peaceful and just society. > > **s 345 (previously s 173):** Renumbered 2002 No 100, Sch 1 \[3\].
