468 Release of child (1) Subject to subsection (2), any child in police custody, in detention or serving a sentence for an offence referred to in section 467(1) must be released as soon as practicable. (2) A child in police custody, in detention or serving a sentence for another offence is not to be released under subsection (1) if the other offence was committed or alleged to have been committed when the child was 12 years of age or older. (3) Reasonable steps must be taken to ensure the safe release of a child under subsection (1).
