189A Assaults on police or emergency workers (1) Any person who unlawfully assaults a police officer or emergency worker in the execution of the officer's or worker's duty is guilty of an offence and is liable to imprisonment for 5 years. (2) If the police officer or emergency worker assaulted: (a) suffers harm, the offender is liable to imprisonment for 7 years; or (ab) suffers harm and the assault includes spitting by the offender, the offender is liable to imprisonment for 10 years; or

Criminal Code Act 1983 159 (b) suffers serious harm, the offender is liable to imprisonment for 16 years.
