#### 98 Definitions 98 Definitions > > (1) In this Part— > > > > administration of justice offence means any of the following offences— > > > > > (a) bribery of, or interference with, a juror, witness or judicial officer, > > > > > (b) perversion of (or conspiracy to pervert) the course of justice, > > > > > (c) perjury. > > > > life sentence offence means murder or any other offence punishable by imprisonment for life. > > > > Note. > > > > On the enactment of this Part, the following offences were offences punishable by imprisonment for life— > > > > > (a) murder (section 19A of the [Crimes Act 1900](/view/html/inforce/current/act-1900-040)), > > > > > (b) an offence under section 61JA (1) of the [Crimes Act 1900](/view/html/inforce/current/act-1900-040) (Aggravated sexual assault in company), > > > > > (c) an offence under section 23 (2), 24 (2), 25 (2), 25 (2A), 26, 27 or 28 of the [Drug Misuse and Trafficking Act 1985](/view/html/inforce/current/act-1985-226), being an offence that relates to a large commercial quantity of certain prohibited plants or drugs. > > > > 15 years or more sentence offence means an offence punishable by imprisonment for life or for a period of 15 years or more. > > > (2) For the purposes of this Part, the retrial of an acquitted person for an offence includes a trial if the offence is not the same as the offence of which the person was acquitted. > > > (3) In this Part, a reference to the proceedings in which a person was acquitted includes, if they were appeal proceedings, a reference to the earlier proceedings to which the appeal related. > > **pt 8, div 1 (s 98):** Ins 2006 No 69, Sch 1 \[2\].
