#### 305 Notice of discharge 305 Notice of discharge > > (1) A correctional officer who discharges a firearm while on duty at a correctional centre, otherwise than while taking part in— > > > > > (a) an approved training course, or > > > > > (b) a firearms practice exercise authorised by the governor, or > > > > > (c) an activity connected with a training course or practice exercise referred to in paragraph (a) or (b), > > > > must notify the governor of the circumstances in which it was discharged. > > > (2) A correctional officer who discharges a firearm while on escort duty must notify a police officer and— > > > > > (a) the governor of the correctional centre at which the officer is usually on duty, or > > > > > (b) if the correctional officer is a member of a Security Unit, the officer in charge of that Unit, > > > > of the circumstances in which it was discharged. > > > (3) On being notified, the governor or the officer in charge of the Security Unit is to report the circumstances of the discharge to the Commissioner. > > > (4) On receiving the report the Commissioner may hold an inquiry into the discharge. > > > (5) The Commissioner must submit a full report of the findings of any inquiry to the Minister.
