252H Interviewing children and young people about offences— urgent circumstances A police officer may interview a child or young person if— (a) the police officer— (i) suspects on reasonable grounds that the child or young person may have committed, or be implicated in the commission of, an offence; or (ii) is holding the child or young person under restraint; and (b) the police officer believes on reasonable grounds that it is necessary to interview the child or young person without delay to avoid— (i) a risk of death or serious injury of a person; or (ii) serious damage to property.
