#### 21 Security officers 21 Security officers > > (1) The Sheriff may, by instrument in writing, appoint any of the following persons to be a security officer— > > > > > (a) a sheriff’s officer, > > > > > (b) any other person who holds a licence under the [Security Industry Act 1997](/view/html/inforce/current/act-1997-157) to carry out security activities of the kind that a security officer may be required to carry out under this Act. > > > (2) The Sheriff may, at any time and for any reason, revoke an appointment of a person made under subsection (1) by notice in writing given to the person. > > > (3) A security officer appointed under subsection (1) (b) is to be provided by the Sheriff with a certificate of identification in the form prescribed by the regulations.
