5533 Appeals to Court of Appeal—service if convicted person
in custody and unrepresented
(1) This rule applies to an application or appeal under this part in relation
to a conviction or sentence if the convicted person—
(a) is in custody; and
(2) A document required or allowed under these rules to be served by the
convicted person for the application or appeal may be served on the
registrar for service by the registrar on another party.
(3) A document required or allowed under these rules to be served on the
convicted person for the application or appeal may be served by
leaving the document with the person in charge of the place where the
person is in custody.

(4) If a document mentioned in subrule (3) is served by the registrar, the
document may be served—
(a) by sending a copy by prepaid post to the place where the
convicted person is in custody, addressed to the person in charge
of the place; or
