466 Counterclaim—answer to (1) A defendant to a counterclaim may plead to the counterclaim by filing and serving an answer to the counterclaim. Note See approved form 2.16 (Answer to counterclaim) AF2015-29. (2) If a plaintiff in a proceeding is the defendant to a counterclaim and is filing and serving a reply, any answer to the counterclaim must be included in the reply. (3) Any answer to a counterclaim must be filed and served not later than— (a) 14 days after the day the counterclaim is served; or (b) if the defendant to the counterclaim is not a party to the original proceeding—28 days after the day the counterclaim is served.
