99 Monitoring—general considerations
In exercising a function under this part, the director-general must
ensure that the following are balanced appropriately:
(a) the need to protect the safety of detainees, corrections officers,
other people who work at or visit correctional centres, and the
community;
(b) the need for security and good order at correctional centres;
(c) the benefits of detainees maintaining contact with the
community outside correctional centres;
(d) the need to protect the privacy of detainees;
(e) the need to prevent intimidation and corruption at correctional
centres, and the commission of offences;
(f) the need to detect prohibited things entering, at, or leaving
correctional centres;
(g) anything else the director-general considers, on reasonable
grounds, to be relevant.
