57 Official visitors—meaning of entitled person and visitable
place
entitled person means—
(a) a detainee at a correctional centre; or
Access to and inspection of correctional centres Chapter 7
(b) a person prescribed by regulation.
visitable place means—
(a) a correctional centre; or
(b) a place outside a correctional centre if a detainee is, or has been,
directed to work or participate in an activity at the place.
Note At least 2 official visitors (including a visitor who is an Aboriginal or
Torres Strait Islander person) must be appointed for this Act under the
Official Visitor Act 2012 (the OV Act).
The OV Act sets out the functions of official visitors which includes
visiting visitable places, handling complaints from entitled people and
reporting on those matters.
This part defines what is an entitled person and a visitable place for the
OV Act.
