50 Contact with accredited people
(1) The director-general must ensure that a detainee has adequate
opportunities for contact with an accredited person, whether by
telephone or mail or by a visit by an accredited person.
Note Accredited person is defined in the dictionary.
(2) For chapter 10 (Discipline), subsection (1) is taken to provide an
entitlement for each detainee in relation to contact with an accredited
person.
(3) However, the director-general may give directions denying or
limiting a detainee’s contact with an accredited person if the
director-general suspects, on reasonable grounds, that the contact
may—
(b) circumvent any process for investigating complaints or
reviewing decisions under this Act.
(4) Also, this section is subject to section 143 (Visiting conditions).
