36 Escorting arrested person to court etc (1) This section applies if a person arrested by a police officer— (a) has not been released on bail; and (b) is in police custody; and (c) is required by law to be brought before a court or tribunal. (2) A police officer may request an escort officer to bring the person before the court or tribunal. Escorting detainees Chapter 5 (3) The escort officer must bring the person before the court or tribunal and, for that purpose, may— (a) take the person into custody; and (b) arrange for the person to be detained under this Act until the person is brought before the court or tribunal.
