27 Emergency powers (1) While an emergency is declared under section 26 in relation to a correctional centre, the director-general may do 1 or more of the (a) restrict any work or activity at the centre; (b) restrict access in, or to or from, the centre or any part of the centre; (c) restrict communications between a detainee and anyone else; (d) authorise a police officer or public servant to exercise any function exercisable by a corrections officer under this Act in accordance with any direction by the director-general. (2) The director-general must ensure that action taken under this section is necessary and reasonable in the circumstances.
