219 Detainee’s work—work health and safety
(1) The director-general must ensure, as far as practicable, that the
conditions in relation to work by a detainee, whether at a correctional
centre or elsewhere, comply with requirements under the Work
Health and Safety Act 2011 in relation to work by workers.
(2) In particular, the director-general must ensure that arrangements in
relation to a detainee’s work take account, as far as practicable, of the
need—
(a) to secure the health, safety and welfare of the detainee; and
(b) to protect people at or near the workplace from risks to health or
safety arising out of the activities of the detainee.
(3) A regulation may provide for the application of the Work Health and
Safety Act 2011 in relation to work by a detainee, including for
changes to that Act in its application in relation to the work.
