211 Powers of escort officers
(1) An escort officer escorting a full-time detainee under an interstate
leave permit may, to keep custody of the detainee under the permit or
to arrest the detainee if the detainee has escaped—
(a) give the detainee any direction that the officer believes, on
reasonable grounds, is necessary and reasonable; and
(b) use force in accordance with part 9.7 (Use of force).
(2) An escort officer escorting a full-time detainee under an interstate
leave permit may conduct a scanning search, frisk search or ordinary
search of the detainee if the officer suspects, on reasonable grounds,
the detainee may be carrying a prohibited thing.
(3) Part 9.4 (Searches) and part 9.5 (Seizing property) apply, with any
necessary changes and any changes prescribed by regulation, in
relation to a search under this section.
