183 Disciplinary action by relevant presiding officer (1) As disciplinary action against a detainee, a relevant presiding officer may do 1 or more of the following (each of which is disciplinary action): (a) warn the detainee about committing a disciplinary breach; (b) reprimand the detainee; (c) impose an administrative penalty, or a combination of administrative penalties, on the detainee; (d) give the detainee a direction under section 185 (Reparation). (2) The relevant presiding officer must ensure that the disciplinary action against a detainee for a disciplinary breach is proportionate to the breach. (3) Without limiting section 14 (Corrections policies and operating procedures), the director-general must make a corrections policy and operating procedure providing for matters to be considered when deciding whether disciplinary action is proportionate to a disciplinary breach.
