122 Searches—premises and property
(1) The director-general may, at any time, direct a corrections officer to
search—
(a) any part of a correctional centre; or
(b) anything at a correctional centre, including anything in the
possession of anyone at a correctional centre; or

(c) any vehicle used for transporting a detainee.
Examples of searches under this section
a search of any of the following for a prohibited thing:
• any area or building or part of a building (including a cell) at a correctional
centre
• any storage area, including an area used by detainees or corrections officers,
at a correctional centre
• any vehicle, machinery or equipment at a correctional centre
(2) However, this section does not authorise—
(a) a search of anyone at a correctional centre; or
(b) any clothing being worn by anyone at a correctional centre at the
time of the search.
search includes search—
(a) with any device using electronic or other technology; and
(b) by physical means; and
(c) with the assistance of a corrections dog.
