105 Monitoring protected mail
(1) The director-general may open and search a detainee’s protected mail
in the detainee’s presence if the director-general suspects, on
reasonable grounds, that the mail contains—
(a) something that may physically harm the addressee; or
(b) a prohibited thing.
(2) However, the director-general must not read a detainee’s protected
mail without the detainee’s written consent.
