68 Statutory non-parole period
(1) The non-parole period in respect of a sentence of imprisonment is a period equal to one-half of the period of the operative sentence.
(2) Subsection (1) does not apply in relation to –
(a) a sentence of imprisonment for the term of the natural life of the prisoner; or
(b) [Section 68 Subsection (2) amended by No. 17 of 2025, s. 7, Applied:20 Oct 2025] detention in accordance with a declaration under section 7 of the Dangerous Criminals and High Risk Offenders Act 2021 .
