act

Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

Mechanically, this Act instructs the Northern Territory’s Legislative Assembly to request that the Commonwealth Parliament enact a law substantially in the terms of a specified "tabled text" (the proposed Bills tabled in New South Wales when that State introduced its Corporations (Commonwealth Powers) Bill). The Assembly makes the request; the Commonwealth Parliament decides whether to enact matching laws, and any persons regulated by those Commonwealth laws, if made, would bear compliance costs while this Act preserves their operation.
