This Act has been repealed and is no longer in force. It is retained for historical reference.
This rule designates which derivatives must meet enhanced transparency and safety rules under the Corporations Act, affecting banks, financial institutions and large corporates that trade these products. It requires reporting of major derivative types (commodities except electricity, credit, equity, FX, and interest-rate derivatives) and mandates central clearing for interest-rate derivatives denominated in AUD, USD, EUR, GBP or JPY.
The aim is to let regulators monitor systemic risk and reduce contagion by routing key trades through a central clearing house.
