Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This instrument defers the scheduled sunsetting of two welfare payment-management provisions: section 123UF (income management) and Part 3D (cashless welfare) of the Social Security (Administration) Act 1999, keeping them in force until 31 December 2020 (Instrument, s.4).

It affects people subject to those provisions and the administrative authority under the Social Security Act by extending the period during which payment restrictions and payment-channeling or reporting rules apply; the substantive rules remain unchanged but compliance and administrative duties are prolonged.
