17 Appointment of Secretary
> > (1) The Governor may appoint some person to perform the duties of Secretary to the said Commissioners.
>
> > (2) The Secretary shall, before exercising any of the duties of his office, take and subscribe before one of the Judges of the Supreme Court the oath set forth in the Third Schedule, and the Colonial Secretary shall cause the said oath so subscribed to be recorded in his office.
>
> > (3) The Secretary appointed under the Act fifth William IV number twenty-one, and in office at the passing of this Act, shall continue to be Secretary under this Act without reappointment and without taking the said oath, and shall have and exercise the same powers and duties in all respects as if he had been appointed under this Act and had taken the said oath.
