#### 186 Writs and orders under judgments or relating to legal proceedings 186 Writs and orders under judgments or relating to legal proceedings > > (1) There may be registered in the General Register of Deeds— > > > > > (a) any writ or order affecting land issued or made by any court for the purpose of enforcing a judgment, order, statute, or recognisance, whether obtained on behalf of the Crown or otherwise including any order appointing a receiver or sequestrator of land, and > > > > > (b) any current legal proceedings. > > > (2) The registration of a writ, order, or current legal proceedings under this section shall cease to have effect at the expiration of five years from the date of the registration, but may be renewed in the way required by the lodgment rules from time to time, and if renewed shall have effect for five years from the date of the renewal. > > > (3) Registration under this section shall not operate to extend the time for which the writ or order would remain in force if not so registered. > > > (4) In this section, recognisance includes a bail security agreement within the meaning of the [Bail Act 2013](/view/html/inforce/current/act-2013-026). > > **s 186:** Am 1992 No 5, Sch 2 (3); 1998 No 107, Sch 3.2 \[1\]; 2014 No 5, Sch 2.7 \[1\]; 2025 No 50, Sch 1\[34\].
