17 When is someone cleared of an offence
For this Act, a person is cleared of an offence if—
(a) an indictment for the offence lapses, or is withdrawn or struck
out; or
(b) a charge for the offence is withdrawn or discharged; or
(c) the person is acquitted of the offence; or
(d) the person’s conviction for the offence is quashed.
