Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This regulation removes the ComSuper CEO's responsibility for managing the Public Sector Superannuation Accumulation Plan (PSSAP) effective 3 December 2014.

Under the ComSuper Act 2011, the CEO had statutory functions relating to various public sector superannuation schemes, including the PSSAP (a defined contribution super fund for Australian Government employees). This regulation acts as a 'switch-off' provision, specifying that the CEO's authority over the PSSAP ceased at the end of that date.

Why this matters: After 3 December 2014, the ComSuper CEO no longer had legal responsibility for administering the PSSAP. This change likely formed part of broader reforms to consolidate or transfer public sector superannuation administration to a different body (such as the Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation).
