8Reference of complaints to other persons

#### 8 Reference of complaints to other persons (1) The officer in charge may: (a) if he or she thinks that the whole or a part of the investigation should be carried out by a person having special qualifications and the Commissioner so approves—authorise a person who has those qualifications to make the whole or the part of the investigation for the Division; or (b) if he or she thinks that a complaint is not such as to require investigation by a member of the Division and the Commissioner so approves—authorise a Federal police officer to make the investigation for the Division. (2) If the officer in charge gives such an authority, each reference in section 7 to a member of the Investigation Division is to be read, in relation to the whole or the part of the investigation, as including a reference to the authorised person.
